About the Artist

I am Tatiana Pearson, a Wisconsin based visual artist specializing in realism. My primary medium is colored pencil on paper.

As far back as I can remember, I held a pencil in my hand and used it to explore my creativity. Art class was always my favorite place to be and I received accolades in high school for my work: Upper School Winner of the Bookmark Contest (2005-2006), Most Creative Sketchbook for Creativity, Exploration and Page Quality (2006), Wisconsin State Fair Young People's Art Exhibit Certificate of Merit (2007), Headmaster Scholar Award in Studio Art (2007, 2008, 2009), Sketchbook Design Award for Original and Unusual Ideas and Images Created in a Sketchbook Format (2009), Fine Arts Excellence Award in Recognition of Outstanding Individual Achievement in the Arts for Dynamic and Creative Drawing (2009)

In 2009, I went on to pursue a career in music as a symphonic flutist. In 2015 I earned my Masters degree in Music, flute performance. During my college years, I still would draw on my breaks, but never fully pursued an art career until March 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic began.

March 2020 was a difficult time for various reasons, one being that all performances were cancelled until further notice and all private lesson teaching had to be virtual. Suddenly I found myself having to fill a void where music had thrived, so I picked up my colored pencils and started to draw more seriously.

I have always wanted to build an art career, I just didn't know if I could make the time with also being a full time musician and teacher. But where there's a will, there's a way and once my friends and family started truly seeing what I could do with colored pencils, I started getting commission inquiries and my business was born!

My "Panther Chameleon" piece was featured in the February 2021 Gallery of Colored Pencil Magazine.
